Angry Pumpkins Halloween

It's Halloween! What a splendid time to play video game clones with pumpkin themes! Among the dozens of Halloween themed games on the Play store, Angry Pumpkins blatantly copies Angry Birds but has you hurling carved pumpkins instead of round immobile bird objects. The targets are no longer bloated green pig objects but owls instead (and the occasional bat and kitten)! It's funny really. You see, Halloween has pagan origins and was once about offering sacrifices to the god Moloch, which incidentally is depicted as an owl. So you see, pumpkins have a right to be angry.

Pumpkin Toss

In Angry Pumpkins you will be inflicting pain and suffering on precariously sitting targets over four landscapes and 60 levels. In each level you are given a fixed number of pumpkins. To pass it, you will need to hit, crush or blast all of the targets. Hurling is done via a giant slingshot. A house hold item that has proven itself in countless Angry Birds games.
The game play itself takes a bit to get used to. The pumpkins are somewhat heavy and need a wider angle in order to fly across the screen. But after ten or so levels you will be getting the hang of it. As for level variety, there is not much to be said. The target constructions are varied enough but there are only two pumpkin types. Besides the regular one, there is the exploding pumpkin which can be detonated with a tap during flight and has a pretty wide area of effect. Too bad the explosion is more of a smoke poof than a grandiose blast.
Of course, for a buck you can gain one of three bonuses. 15 extra pumpkins to be used whenever needed; 15 Pumpkin airstrikes (that's three pumpkins falling on a designated target, fairly devastating), and 15 Super-size treatments. You can inflate pumpkins to make them more destructive.
Yo should be careful when using those extra pumpkins. If you add one after you've spent all the others, you might still receive a "You Lose" message, robbing you of it.

If you're in the mood for Halloween then I'd suggest installing Angry Pumpkins, making some hot cinnamon flavored wine and listening to Type O Negative and spend some quality time with your tablet.
